One of the main missions of Habitat for Humanity is to build communities to better people's quality of life. That's what we set out to do when we started our Central Plateau project.

We were directed towards Hinche, a commune in Haiti, when our project partner took on a position at the Central Plateau division of Habitat for Humanity. He thought that it would be very helpful to have a local community center to act as a schooling center, medical center, shelter against hurricanes, and other services important to the community. It was the perfect time to embark on this project; Habitat for Humanity had planned to build an estimated fifty to three hundred homes in the upcoming years, so the community center would help enhance locals' self-sufficiency.

With this in mind, we designed a center with a square footage of 4000. It services 100 homes and can house up to 300 primary school students. The community center itself acts as an educational center, a health clinic, a relief shelter, a meeting hall, and a chapel. All this will enhance the sense of community in Central Plateau and, as a result, the locals' quality of life.
